Reconstructing Time at the YC Art Gallery

Painting by Ruth Terrill

Painting by Ruth Terrill

The Yavapai College Art Gallery at the Prescott Campus presents the exhibition Reconstructing Time on display from June 25 – July 16, 2009. The opening reception takes place Thursday, June 25, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the art gallery. The Yavapai College Art Gallery is located inside the YC Performance Hall on the Prescott Campus.

Reconstructing Time displays the compositions in collage by artists Nadine Sage and Ruth Terrill, encaustic paintings of Lynda Ray, and archetypal imagery of Elizabeth Kellogg.

Fine art collagist, Nadine Sage is captivated by paper imagery, textile design and the love of combining images to form a complex, yet balanced, composition. The subject matter in her artwork mirrors the places she has traveled, memories from her youth, and images she has found that intrigue her.

Ruth Terrill also expresses herself in collage and states that she is interested in the way dreams and waking life can present us with strange and paradoxical combinations of images. Terrill states that inspiration for her work comes from the “natural surrealism” that occurs spontaneously in life.

Lynda Ray’s encaustic paintings are influenced by the structures and shapes found in nature and the order that exists in apparent chaos. She uses geometric shapes to create patterns. Ray states that her paintings are about the relationships between the microcosm and the macrocosm and the energy of those entities and how they relate to each other.

Elizabeth Kellogg’s art consists of multiple layers of ephemera, family photographs, found objects. She explores the potency of imagery and the uniqueness of personal responses to universal symbols and stories.

Explore the four very individual styles of these talented artists at the Yavapai College Art Gallery.
