Professional Development Fund Request

Purpose: Policy 2.2.5

Participation in professional development activities, and the application of learning, is a responsibility of every employee. Professional development includes a wide variety of activities supported and encouraged by the College to improve skills, knowledge, and behaviors to enhance effectiveness and service to the College community.

Options for Funding

  • Travel to and participation in professional conferences, workshops, expositions seminars, and training.
  • Activities related to participation as a member in professional organizations.
  • Activities related to advancement/enrichment in a professional discipline.
  • Activities related to courses required for certification or licensing.

Procedure

There are two steps that must be completed in order to file for professional development funds.

STEP ONE:

  • Email the completed "Request for Funding" PDF form to the YCSA Professional Growth Chair (Cathy Gertsch).  The "Request for Funding" form is a PDF document on which you can type, save on your computer and email to the YCSA Professional Growth Chair. It does not need to contain signatures.

STEP TWO:

  • Inter-office mail your application package to the YCSA Professional Growth Chair. The Professional Growth Application package consists of:
  1. The printed "Request for Funding" form with appropriate signatures;
  2. ORIGINAL completed "Travel Request" form with appropriate signatures;
  3. Any fliers, brochures or other materials describing the proposed activity.

Request for Funding form

Post conference evaluation required within 1 month of travel. Evaluation to include: Name of Conference; Benefit for future attendance; Tools gained from the conference (web links, processes, etc.)

FAQ's

  • Requests should be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the travel. Late requests will NOT be considered.
  • There is currently a funding ceiling of $500 per YCSA member per year.
  • If funding is available, second requests are considered only at the end of the fiscal year.
  • Requests may be submitted up to 6 months in advance.
  • Funding is only available for full-time staff members.
  • Questions may be submitted to the Professional Growth Chair.
