On Monday, Aug. 22, a new Smoking and Tobacco Use policy (Yavapai College Smoking and Tobacco Use Policy 5.35) goes into effect across the College District.

The policy allows smoking on YC campuses within a limited number of designated outdoor areas. The smoking areas are clearly marked with signage and furnished with tobacco product waste receptacles.

Smoking includes, but is not limited to, inhaling e-cigarettes and vaporizers; carrying a lighted or smoldering cigarette, cigar, or pipe. The use of smokeless tobacco products, including but not limited to snuff and chew, is prohibited within College vehicles, buildings, and residence halls.

The policy applies to everyone on YC campuses - students, employees and visitors. Maps of designated smoking areas on all YC properties and a violation reporting form is available on the YC smoking policy web page, or by clicking here

The College works in conjunction with the Yavapai Combined Trust Wellness Program to empower each employee to take control of their own health by making informed decisions. Among many wellness options, YCT and its partners offer free and/or low cost smoking-cessation programs for all employees and students. Click here for more information about those programs.
