Emergency Management at Yavapai College understands the critical nature of ensuring a safe and prepared environment for our people.

In 2023 the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) was created to serve as a vital part of campus operations and coordinates a variety of institutional programs.

These programs include but not limited to: Yavapai College emergency plans, complex events and incidents, and preparedness and mitigation efforts. Yavapai College Office of Emergency Management (OEM) takes pride in finding innovative ways to keep our community safe.

Here are the locations of all Yavapai College blue lights (emergency lights), AEDs, and Stop the Bleed for all campuses. With the map open, click on the map of the campus you want to know where to locate these safety items.

A copy of the Yavapai College Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan can be viewed at the Office of Emergency Mangement, Prescott Campus, Building 30, during regular business hours Monday – Friday.

This is to protect the safety of our campus communities and first responders. These sections, as well as sections that contain personal contact information, are confidential and are not available for public viewing.

Yavapai College Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is providing the following Continuity Planning for all college departments and divisions to help guide them through the process of creating and maintaining their individual Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).

  • In today’s ever-changing threat environment and recent emergencies have increased the need for COOP capabilities and plans.
  • COOP planning can lessen the impact to our day-to-day operations at Yavapai College
  • COOP is a statewide initiative to ensure all agencies continue to perform their essential functions under a broad range of circumstances.
  • COOP is also “good business practice.”

Continuity Planning Objectives

Each office/department shall...

  • Be capable of implementing its COOP plans with or without warning.
  • Have its COOP operational not later than 12 hours after activation.
  • Be capable of maintaining sustained operations for up to 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks).
  • Include regularly scheduled testing, training, and exercising of processes and procedures, equipment, systems, personnel used to support the agency during a COOP event.
  • Provide a regular risk analysis of current alternative operating facilities.
  • Locate alternative facilities in the area with the ability to initiate, maintain and terminate COOP.
  • Take advantage of existing infrastructures and consider other options such as teleworking, working at home and shared facilities.
  • Consider the distance between current operations and alternate facilities.
  • Include development, maintenance, and review of COOP capabilities using multi-year strategy and program management planning.
