Yavapai College
Performing Arts
Center
Names New Director
When asked how the arts can enrich the lives of
both college students and people in the surrounding community, Blake Henry, new Director of the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center (YCPAC) laughs. “Whole doctoral dissertations have been written on that subject.”
Blake, who joined YCPAC as its new director in August, has more than 20 years of experience in the live entertainment and facility management industry. He
has served as the General Manager of Nokia Theatre, and most recently as the General Manager of Best Buy Theater in Times Square in New York City. He has also worked as an arts consultant for the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, an Event Manager for Staples Center arena in Los Angeles and held accounting roles at Twentieth Century Fox Film Studios.
Blake’s combination of industry experience started
at Staples Center where he had management responsibilities with the L.A. Kings, L.A. Lakers and virtually every type of event and facet of Staples Center’s sports, entertainment, facility management
and communication businesses. “I found it incredibly interesting, all the work behind the scenes, behind the stage, and appreciate all the production work involved in giving guests a reason to cheer,” says Blake. “I realized that this was the path I wanted to pursue.”
During his 11-year run at Best Buy Theater in New York City, Blake oversaw its construction and grand opening. As a result, the theater was honored with “Pollstar’s Best New Venue Award” for being one of New York’s finest theaters on Broadway.
Now he’s at the helm of YCPAC and is dedicated to giving the Yavapai community a reason to cheer with high-quality dance, theater, music, film and comedy programming at affordable prices. “We are making big strides on updating YCPAC with new décor and a new sound system, and I hope to see you at our next show so I can meet you!”
President’s Club
offers unique concert-going experience
The YC Performing Arts Center (YCPAC) and the Yavapai College Foundation are collaborating to offer YCPAC patrons an exclusive concert-going experience.
The YCPAC has created the President’s Club for the 2014-15 season, which runs through May 16, 2015. Club members will be able to
purchase show tickets on a priority basis for all live YC- sponsored performances, including newly added shows. Membership includes VIP reserved parking, free ticket exchange, public recognition in the YCPAC playbill, dinner for two at one performance, one private concert per season and two guest passes to the President’s Club per semester.
Before each live, YC-sponsored show, the Art Gallery inside the Performing Arts Center will be transformed into an intimate private club. There members will enjoy complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages; a VIP cash bar; VIP entrance; and a pre-show talk with an exhibiting artist, YC music/art faculty member, the show performer or the YCPAC director.
President’s Club annual memberships start at $500 per couple. $1,000 memberships include all of the above plus the naming/sponsorship of two seats in the Performing Arts Center.
