Confidentiality

Personal counseling files are confidential and kept separately from academic files in a locked file cabinet. All aspects of counseling are legally and ethically confidential except for the following:

  • You state or present suicidal or homicidal intent to yourself or an identified person or parties.
  • Any reported or suggested incident of sexual abuse or physical abuse of a minor or elder.
  • You are under 18 years of age and report being the victim of abuse.

The Yavapai College counselor may at times consult with their supervisor(s), colleagues or a consultant regarding the presented issues, although not fully identifying you. These persons have fully agreed to abide by the ethical and legal regulations of confidentiality in the State of Arizona.
