Renowned instructors share their techniques, August 23

Prescott, Arizona – The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Yavapai College is excited to offer a Free Tai Chi Workshop on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to Noon, in the Prescott Campus Community Room, Bldg. 19, Rm. 147.

This special workshop is open to the general public, as well as Yavapai College students, faculty and staff. The workshop – suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners – will focus on one of the most iconic sequences in traditional Tai Chi: Grasp Sparrow’s Tail, from the Yang Family Style.

The workshop will be led by Sifu Pete Voll, the only Academy-level instructor in Arizona certified by the International Yang Family Tai Chi Association. Sifu Voll continues to train directly with Grandmaster Yang Jun, the current lineage holder of the Yang Family Style, and teaches alongside his wife, Kasia Voll, at their Prescott-based Full Moon Tai Chi School (FullMoonTaiChi.org).

Joining the Volls will be Sifu Arlo Chan, a longtime Tai Chi practitioner with over 50 years of experience, including 25 years of study under Master Mary Chow in Los Angeles. Sifu Chan has been sharing his knowledge at Yavapai College through the OLLI program since 2019.

Tai Chi, an ancient martial art rooted in self-defense and meditation, offers profound benefits for physical balance, mental clarity, and overall well-being. This workshop is a unique opportunity to explore the elegance and depth of this time-honored discipline in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
