Prescott, Arizona (Dec. 18, 2025) – Yavapai College’s Career and Technical Education Commercial Driver Training (CDL) program is thrilled to host its fourth annual Northern Arizona Commercial Driver License Examiner and Trainer Seminar on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Jim and Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon St.
The seminar gathers CDL trainers and examiners from across the state to collaborate on best practices for training and standards. Registration is $65 and includes lunch. Attendees can register at https://www.yc.edu/yccdl.
“This seminar unites those directly responsible for determining driver readiness—the trainers and road test examiners,” said Dr. Alexander Barber, Yavapai College Commercial Driver Trainer. “Effective CDL training enhances driver safety and saves lives, while rigorous road testing upholds high standards for operating commercial vehicles and school buses on Arizona roadways.”
Attendees will hear from experts at the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), and other subject matter experts on topics such as modernized CDL skill testing, Operation LifeSaver, and strategies to combat human trafficking. Interactive breakout sessions will give participants hands-on insights into school bus training certification, audit processes, and testing standards.
“By promoting safety and consistent standards, the seminar supports the broader goal of reducing fatalities and injuries on highways statewide and nationally,” Dr. Barber said, adding it fosters open communication among trainers and examiners, as well as local, state, and federal partners, ensuring CDL licensing requirements remain accurate and compliant to keep Arizona roads safe.
