This week in Yavapai Athletics is filled to the brim with sports! Primarily, all four Winter and Spring Roughrider sports will be facing off in ACCAC Conference play, whether it is the beginning of their seasons or the end.
Women's Basketball
This week marks the last week of the 2025-26 Yavapai Women's Basketball season. WBB will play in two more home ACCAC conference match-ups, and are then looking ahead to the 2026-27 season next year.
The second to last game of the season for the Riders will be this Wednesday, February 25th, where they will face off at home against Arizona Western. The competition against the Matadors will tip off at 5:30 PM.
Then, the final game of the season will be this Saturday, February 28th, where a 2 PM tip-off against Cochise will take place. This game is also Sophomore Day for Women's Basketball, where Sophomore Amani Arraf will be recognized before the game begins.
Men's Basketball
As stated above with the Women's team, the Men's Basketball team will host their final two games of the 2025-26 season this week against ACCAC opponents.
On Wednesday, February 25th, Yavapai MBB will host rv Arizona Western in a game sponsored by Findlay Hyundai Prescott. That game will tip off at 7:30 PM.
Then, the Roughrider's final game of the season will be this Saturday, February 28th, where the Riders will host the Apaches of Cochise College. The game, which will tip off at 4 PM, is sponsored by Culver's of Prescott.
The final game will also be the Sophomore Day game for Yavapai Men's Basketball, where the 6 Yavapai MBB Sophomores will be recognized before the game: Andrew Lyon, Torin Bosch, Ryan Vischer, Amari Lawrence, Jason Parent, and Kayne Gilmore.
Softball
Home Softball for Yavapai has returned! Yavapai Softball looks to make some waves in the ACCAC with conference play opening up this weekend at home!
Yavapai Softball has 4 games this week, all home ACCAC match-ups that will be featured in not only the Home Opener, but also the Conference Home Opener. The team will host the Vaqueras of Central Arizona on February 27th and 28th in a 4 game series.
Games 1 and 2 are on Friday, February 27th at 12 & 2 PM. Games 3 and 4 are on the next day, February 28th, at 11 AM & 1 PM.
Baseball
Yavapai Baseball has had some home games thus far this season, but the Home Conference Opener awaits as Yavapai will face off against #12 Southern Nevada, the very team the Roughriders lost to in last year's NJCAA Region 1 Playoffs.
Before that game, however, Yavapai Baseball is hosting what they are calling the "Lunch Break Special." On Wednesday, February 25th, Yavapai Baseball will be hosting Thompson Rivers University for a single game beginning at 12 PM. People on their lunch breaks during class or work are encouraged to stop by the Roughrider Park field for an afternoon of Yavapai Baseball!
Then, this weekend, Yavapai will host a 3-game series against #12 Southern Nevada in the Conference Home Opener!
Games 1 and 2 of the series will be on Friday, February 27th, beginning at 11 AM & 1:30 PM. The final game of the series will be on Saturday, February 28th at 1:30 PM.
