The Yavapai Softball team has just completed their double-header against the Mustangs of Monroe University, and these two games came down to the wire! Yavapai was able to win their first match 9-8, while they would go on to lose Game 2 2-1.

 

Game 1

Yavapai won Game 1 in a high scoring 9-8 battle!

Danica Kern has proven this season that she is able to get on base effectively, and in this game, she hit 3 singles on 4 plate appearances! Many other Roughriders had a multi-hit day, including Mindy Ward, Yeluamny Alvarado, Kayley Gibb, Tamryn Tucker, and Georgia Wagner-Stiles. Ward had one double in this game, while Alvarado and Sofia Romero each hit a triple! Tamryn Tucker's hits resulted in an RBI of 3.

Ryder Wilmarth was on the mound today for all 7 innings, and she was able to strike out 7 while walking none.

Romero had 4 fielding assists, while Gibb had 3.

 

Game 2

The second game of a day was a low-scoring 2-1 win for the Mustangs.

The one run came courtesy of Sofia Romero, who was able to bring Georgia Wagner-Stiles home. Dani Kern had another multi-hit game with 2 hits, while Romero had a double.

Sofi Wagner-Stiles started and played all 7 innings and had 3 strikeouts on zero walks.

Kern, who played shortstop this contest, had the one double play of the day for the Roughriders.

In total, Danica Kern had 5 hits in 2 games, while Tamryn Tucker had 3 RBI.

Yavapai Softball is now 14-21 this season.

Yavapai Softball is on the road this weekend where they will face off against ACCAC rival Central Arizona. Games 1 and 2 are on Thursday, April 2nd at 12 and 2 pm. Games 3 and 4 are on April 3rd at 11 am & 1 pm.
