The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Yavapai College is launching its spring “Munch and Learn” sessions.
“Munch and Learn” will offer six courses on art, wine, safety and more from 12:30-1:45 every Thursday from April 19 to May 14.
“Our Spring ‘Munch and Learn’ series offers a wide array of interesting topics,” Yavapai College OLLI Director Patricia Berlowe said. “I am particularly excited about the presentation on April 16 by Dr. Monica Buckle on Native American and Indigenous Art.”
The first session will take place on Thu. Apr. 9 at the Verde Valley Campus in building M, room 137. Attendees will be led through the science of wine making, the status of the industry in the area and the programs offered at Yavapai College’s wine center.
On Apr. 16, at the Verde Valley Campus in building M, room 137, Native American and Indigenous art will be the topic of learning. The talk will explore how artifacts connect the past and present through living traditions. It will examine relationship-based curation, tribal consultation, collaboration and stewardship to present contemporary indigenous art with respect.
On Apr. 23 at Yavapai College’s Sedona Center in building 34, participants will discuss the premise of American Exceptionalism. It will ask the question of whether the U.S. can claim a unique and special place in the world today and examine the historical origins of this belief.
The Yavapai College Police Department will host a session on personal safety 101 on Apr. 30 at the Prescott Campus in building three, room 119. Detective Sergeant Megyn Felton will discuss practical, real-world personal safety skills.
The Yavapai County Recorder and Yavapai County Register of Voters will discuss the 2026 election process on May 7 at the Prescott Campus, building three, room 119. Topics will include election security, new changes, and improvements.
The final spring “Munch and Learn” will cover Reverse Mortgages Reimagined at the Prescott Campus in building three, room 119. Traci Ranic of Frontier Financial of Arizona will break down the facts, dispel common myths and explain how a reverse mortgage can be used to support retirement goals.
Sessions are open to the public and offered either on Yavapai College campuses or online via Zoom.
