Yavapai College has announced Michael Tenette and Chelsey Lucas as its new Director and Assistant Director of Athletics.

Tenette previously served as the department’s assistant director for two years and brings with him decades of experience in coaching and leadership. He has a passion for collegiate, interscholastic, and club athletics. He will work closely with school districts and community programs to increase engagement and participation in athletics across all levels in Yavapai County.

Lucas joined YC in 2022 as the College’s Head Volleyball Coach and has been interim assistant director since June. She will continue to lead the Women’s Volleyball program and possesses multiple years of Division I coaching experience. Lucas will also oversee YC’s camps and clinics.

Tenette and Lucas take over one of the nation's top junior college athletic departments that has expanded to eight NJCAA Division I programs, including men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and e-sports.

Over 100 student-athletes participate in athletic programs at Yavapai College every year. They excel both in competition and in the classroom and provide service engagement within Yavapai County schools and communities.
