The Yavapai College automotive program has received ASE Training Program reaccreditation from the ASE Education Foundation. Yavapai College’s automotive program has been accredited in maintenance and light repair through 2028.

To achieve this coveted recognition, the College’s automotive program underwent rigorous evaluation by the ASE Education Foundation. Nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities, and equipment were used.

“During the past few months, we have worked closely with the ASE Education Foundation to make certain that our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted to join the ranks of the ASE accredited training programs,” said John Morgan, Associate Vice President for Career and Technical Education.  “Students will be assured of a quality education, and shop owners will be assured of getting quality job applicants.”  Morgan went on to say, “The efforts of Jerrad Smith as the lead to get this accomplished are noticeable, and I want to commend the entire Automotive Department at Yavapai College for their continued excellence.”

YC offers two degrees and four certificates in automotive and diesel technology. These can range from two-year associate degrees to certificates achieved in as few as two semesters. YC’s degrees and certificates are:

  • Automotive Technology, Associate of Applied Science
  • Diesel Technician, Associate of Applied Science
  • Automotive Master Technician, Certificate
  • Diesel Technician, Certificate
  • Auto Body Paint and Collision Technology, Certificate
  • Automotive Technician (MLR), Certificate

“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said Michael Coley, ASE Education Foundation President. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Yavapai College’s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by Yavapai College, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the workforce.”

Upon completion of the evaluation, Yavapai College became accredited by the ASE Education Foundation.  The ASE Education Foundation is a non-profit, independent organization that evaluates and accredits entry-level technician training programs against standards developed by the automotive industry.

Enrollment for the spring semester is now open, and classes are filling fast.
