Quality Matters

QM@YCQuality Matters (QM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to quality assurance in online and hybrid education based upon extensive and ongoing research. In December 2016, Faculty Senate adopted Quality Matters as a guideline for improving YC's online courses.

"The impact of Quality Matters on certified courses is undeniable. Course review results in better course design, which makes navigation easier for students, reduces barriers to student achievement, and results in better outcomes."

IYOC - Improving Your Online Course Workshop

The “IYOC” workshop is a free professional development opportunity that explores the Quality Matters Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses as part of the QM@YC initiative. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own online courses and develop a course improvement plan.

To participate in the workshop you must:

  • Be Full-Time or Adjunct faculty at Yavapai College, AND have taught online for one or more semesters

What you get:

  • Participants come away with a plan for course improvement, so enrolling in the workshop with a pre-developed online course is required.

  • $200 stipend for completion

If you're interested, contact An Pfister, QM Coordinator, at An.Pfister@yc.edu or 928-717-7683

Yavapai College has had over 160 full and part-time faculty who have completed the "Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)" or "Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)" training workshops.
