Quality Matters

Quality Matters (QM) is a nationally recognized peer-review process that helps faculty design effective online and hybrid courses.

QM@YCQuality Matters (QM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to quality assurance in online and hybrid education based upon extensive and ongoing research.

In December 2016, Faculty Senate adopted Quality Matters as a guideline for improving YC's online courses.

QM@YC is a faculty-driven, voluntary program where participants can use a process that is grounded in research, driven by best practices, with a community that puts learners first.

"The impact of Quality Matters on certified courses is undeniable. Course review results in better course design, which makes navigation easier for students, reduces barriers to student achievement, and results in better outcomes."

Yavapai College now has nearly 90 full and part-time faculty who have attended the "Applying the QM Rubric" training, the first in a series of training workshops. QM@YC is developing internal trainings that will be offered to all interested faculty.

QM logoQuality Matters in Online Learning. We believe...

  • Instructors should have opportunities to learn and collaborate with peers in the design and review of their courses.
  • All students should be afforded well-designed courses that help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Institutions should demonstrate their own pathways for quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Courses and programs should meet national benchmarks for quality.
