Associate of Applied Science in Administration of Justice
Mission:
An interdisciplinary program of study which prepares students for a broad range of employment opportunities including law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole officer, and social services in the courts or community agencies.
Administration of Justice Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Administration of Justice program the learner will be able to:
- Identify the organization and jurisdiction of local state and federal law enforcement courts and correctional systems.
- Describe the relationships between the three components of the criminal justice system.
- Identify and summarize the various theories of criminal behavior.
- Summarize the philosophy of legal sanctions and the historical development of criminal law.
- Define the modern classification of crimes.
- Define due process as related to both the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems.
- Describe the economic and psychological impact of crime on society.
- Explain the current social issues and trends affecting the criminal justice system.
- Describe historical and current strategies in response to crime.
