Program Modification Process

1. Where Do I Start?

Modifying a degree or certificate program requires careful planning and consideration. Program revision or upgrading may have an impact on college resources and obligations, so a program upgrade requires a complete review of curriculum, college resources required for program support, and projected impact on program enrollment.

2. How Do I Proceed With Program Development?

Modifying a program proposal requires gathering relevant data, preparing supporting documentation, and designing the new program.

  • Part 1:

Go to Forms and download the Program Modification Form

This is a detailed document that describes the need that is being met, projected impact on college resources, learning outcomes to be achieved, and the complete program plan. The Office of Institutional Research can assist in conducting needs surveys and securing employment-related data. Current information about employment trends, articulation initiatives, or other relevant data must be included in the proposal.

  • Part 2:

Attach a copy of the Proposed Modified Program in catalog format

  • Part 3:

Attach a copy of the Program as currently approved.

3. What Do I Do When I Finish My Proposal?

  1. Assemble the parts of the proposal outlined above. More detailed information about proposal components can be found on the back of this trail guide or in the "Program Proposal Components" section.
  2. E-mail a copy of your proposal including new permanent course outline/s, course modifications, or course deletions to your Division Curriculum Representative and to the Curriculum Coordinator: Patti Schlosberg
