New Degree or Certificate Program Proposal Process

1. Where Do I Start?

Developing a new degree or certificate program requires careful planning and consideration.

3. How Do I Proceed With Program Development?

The New Program Proposal form is a detailed document that describes the need that is being met, the projected impact on college resources, learning outcomes to be achieved, and the complete program plan. The Office of Institutional Research can assist in conducting needs surveys and securing employment-related data. Current information about employment trends, articulation initiatives, or other relevant data must be included in the proposal.

Learning outcomes for the program must be stated in measurable terms and assessed as part of the instructional process. The learning outcomes for the courses within the program must link directly to the program outcomes. The assessment of all program learning outcomes must be documented for each program completer.

List the program requirements in catalog format.

4. What Do I Do When I Finish My Proposal?

  1. Assemble the parts of the proposal.
  2. E-mail your assembled proposal, including any new permanent course proposals or course modifications to your Division Curriculum Representative and to: Patti Schlosberg
