Community policing in higher education
Protection, service, and partnership on every YC campus.
Yavapai College Police Officers are state certified and provide public safety services with the same responsibilities and authority as municipal, county, and state police agencies. The department supports the college community through response, prevention, education, training, safety escorts, reporting resources, and community-based policing.

Welcome to the Yavapai College Campus Safety Department. We work to promote safety and responsibility through education and awareness, training, interactive networking, and, when necessary, enforcement of the law.
The primary role of Campus Safety is to promote a safe environment that enhances the educational experience of students and provides assistance and protection to all on our campuses.

Disabled Vehicle Assistance
If your vehicle needs a jumpstart or basic assistance while on campus, contact Campus Safety for help.

Campus Safety provides a variety of trainings to the YC community.
ALERRT / AAIR
Active Attack Integrated Response training improves integration between law enforcement, fire, telecommunicators, and emergency medical services in active attack events.
ALICE
Active Shooter Response Training helps participants make informed safety decisions using Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate strategies.
CRASE
Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events provides strategies and guidance using the Avoid, Deny, Defend model.
De-Escalation Training
Surviving Verbal Conflict develops skills for managing verbal conflict and strengthening de-escalation practice.
Rape Aggression Defense
R.A.D. is a self-defense program focused on awareness, prevention, risk reduction, avoidance, and basic hands-on defense training.
AlertYC
AlertYC is an emergency text message and email notification system used during campus incidents, closures, delays, or early releases.

Safety Escorts
Campus Safety provides walking or vehicle escorts for students, staff, faculty, and visitors concerned about their safety.
Internship Program
The Campus Safety Internship Program gives selected interns experience in law enforcement operations, investigations, report writing, patrol, and community-based policing in higher education. For information, contact Officer Felton at megyn.felton@yc.edu.
How is the College Police Department empowered?
Yavapai College Police Officers are state certified and have the same powers as any police officer in the State of Arizona.
How do I make an official YC incident report?
Reports of risk related to individual student behavior and possible threats to campus safety should be reported immediately to law enforcement. Official reporting tools are available in the Reports & Forms section.
What are the rules regarding parking on campus?
Parking and vehicular traffic on Yavapai College property are controlled through college regulations and procedures. There is no fee required for students, staff, or visitors to park on campus.

How can I promote my personal safety?
Stay aware of your surroundings, travel in groups when possible, use well-lit routes, secure belongings, know the location of emergency phones, and contact Campus Safety for an escort when needed.
