Ginney Bilbray’s “A Pretty Normal Life” airs on ZOOM, Saturday, June 28
The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival has selected a Yavapai College artist’s story for broadcast as part of their series on new solo works. A Pretty Normal Life, written by YC Librarian and thespian Ginney Bilbray, will be presented on ZOOM, as part of LAWTF’s HOT OFF THE PRESS! Series, Saturday, June 28, at 7 p.m.
“I can’t express how excited we are about this,” Bilbray said.
Bilbray wrote and performs A Pretty Normal Life, a poignant, layered drama that explores trauma, mental illness, and healing with moments of humor and hope. Saturday’s ZOOM presentation will feature a live excerpt of Bilbray’s autobiographical journey.
“We’re hitting the ground running,” Bilbray said. “[Saturday] is a live event with four authors chosen.” She is working with local director Nanette Hofer to shape the fifteen-minute segment, which is part of A Pretty Normal Life’s development process. “We’re hoping to workshop the show locally first, before submitting it to LAWTF [for full production] in 2026.”
A librarian at Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus since 2002, Bilbray has played multiple roles, on- and off-stage, for Arizona theatres over the past twenty years. She appeared in YC Performing Arts productions of Into the Woods and Chicago and designed wigs and makeup for multiple PAC shows. A Pretty Normal Life is her first work as a writer and solo performer.
The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival is a 32-year-old organization whose four-day, six-program festival has presented over 700 solo performers from around the globe. ‘Hot Off the Press’ is LAWTF’s web-based platform for presenting the latest and most innovative solo storytelling.
