Prescott, Arizona — Yavapai College District Governing Board Chair Deb McCasland announced today that the Board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., to review the preliminary budget for the 2026–2027 fiscal year. The District Governing Board is required by Arizona law to adopt the budget no later than June 20 of each year.
“Yavapai College is a cornerstone of our community and has provided higher education opportunities since 1965 that improve the lives of the students we serve. As trustees, our highest priority is to ensure the College is well positioned to continue providing the highest quality education,” Chair McCasland said. “Adopting a budget is the top priority of the Board every year. Yavapai College is among the most elite and innovative community colleges in the nation, and the Board must come together to adopt a budget that keeps the College moving forward to fulfill its primary mission to students and our community.”
Chair McCasland noted that Yavapai College employs more than 1,000 people at its seven campuses and centers throughout Yavapai County and is a key economic driver, providing more than $250 million in economic impact each year. She added that the College offers innovative programs, from certificates that help individuals enter the job market quickly with competitive starting salaries, to a wide variety of associate and baccalaureate degrees. The College is also the first community college in the country to offer an optimized three-year, 92-credit-hour bachelor’s degree.
“The faculty and staff at the College are highly dedicated to student success, and their commitment was recently recognized nationally by USA Today as a top workplace in the country for the second year in a row,” Chair McCasland said. “Thanks to the leadership of Dr. Lisa Rhine, President of Yavapai College, the executive leadership team, and all faculty and staff, Yavapai College students are among the most well-educated and well-prepared graduates in Arizona. Fortunately for our community, many of these graduates stay in Yavapai County and work in dozens of industries, from healthcare to welding and many careers in between. I am honored to serve on the District Governing Board and look forward to adopting the new budget.”
The Yavapai College District Governing Board meeting will be held at the Rock House on the Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301. The public is invited to attend, and the meeting will include an open call during which members of the public may address the Board. Open call is on a first-come, first-served basis, and statements are limited to three minutes. Limited seating is available in the Rock House; however, overflow seating will be available.
