Workforce Development, Health Sciences and Public Services students recognized for leadership, skill and academic achievement
Prescott, Arizona — Yavapai College recognized outstanding student achievement across Workforce Development, Health Sciences and Public Services during its 2026 Evening of Recognition, an annual celebration honoring students whose academic performance, leadership and professional promise have distinguished them in the classroom, lab and field.
Held before faculty, staff, family and community supporters, the event recognized students from programs spanning nursing, aviation, welding, culinary, emergency medical services, administration of justice, commercial driver training and many more. Awards honored students who demonstrated exceptional technical skill, academic excellence, initiative and commitment to service—qualities that reflect the mission of Yavapai College and the workforce needs of the region.
In opening remarks, Dr. Marylou Mercado, Vice President of Workforce Development, Health Sciences and Public Services, said the evening was both a celebration and a reflection of purpose.
“Our students are preparing to enter professions of real impact—work that sustains, strengthens and advances our communities,” Mercado said. “The impact of what they are learning extends far beyond the classroom and into the everyday lives of the people they will serve.”
