The Arizona Attorney General Informed the Yavapai College District Governing Board that the Open Meetings Law was Not Violated
Prescott, Arizona – Steve Bracety, Chairperson, Yavapai College District Governing Board, released the following statement about the results of two Open Meetings Violations that were recently investigated by the Arizona Attorney General. The Attorney General informed the Yavapai College District Governing Board that the Open Meetings Law was not violated, and the matter is now closed. The Resolution of Open Meeting Law Complaints letter is attached.
"The Yavapai College District Governing Board takes compliance with Arizona's Open Meeting Law very seriously and is committed to conducting the public's business with transparency and integrity. We are pleased with the Attorney General's findings, which concluded that no violations occurred. Given that these matters are often resolved over the course of many months, and sometimes more than a year, we appreciate the prompt review and believe the expedited determination speaks for itself regarding the merits of these allegations,” Bracety said.
“While we are gratified by the outcome, this experience also underscores the importance of strong communication and collaboration among board members. As the new chairperson, one of my priorities is to foster a more cohesive and productive board that works together in the best interests of our students, faculty, staff, and taxpayers. Our focus remains on advancing the mission of Yavapai College and ensuring that we continue to serve our communities with excellence and accountability.
