In a season that spans the globe to collect the most exciting performers, the Yavapai Symphony Association would be remiss not to include a talented orchestra very close to home. The YSA proudly presents the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra, Sunday afternoon, February 12, at 3 p.m. at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center.

Classical music offers its patrons two distinct joys: the spectacle of watching immortal works interpreted by artists at their peak; and the thrill of seeing emerging musicians grow and master works of the Classical canon. The Arizona State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffery Meyer, fits precisely into the latter category.

A favorite of YSA patrons in 2021-2022, The ASUSO returns to Yavapai College Performing Arts Center to play a challenging and diverse program chosen to help emerging professional musicians develop a wide range of skills. The ASU Symphony Orchestra will herald the beginning of the spring by performing Lili Boulanger’s "D'un matin de printemps" ("Of a Spring Morning"), then continue with Rimsky Korsakov’s "Capriccio Espagnol," a virtuosic fantasy on Spanish themes. ASUSO will conclude their Feb. 12 concert with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, a powerful contemplation on the inescapable nature of fate.

The concert will be held at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, in Prescott. Tickets for the ASU Symphony Orchestra are $36 to $54, and only available by contacting the Yavapai Symphony Association at (928) 776.4255.
