Join us when the Curtis Symphony Orchestra performs with featured guest pianist Yefim Bronfman, Tuesday night, May 16, at 7 p.m., at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center in Prescott.

“The most dynamic orchestra in the city!” -- The Philadelphia Inquirer

At the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, every single chair is a success story because all of them are filled by emerging virtuosos from Philadelphia’s prestigious Curtis Institute of Music.

Together on their very first tour of the Western United States, The Curtis Symphony Orchestra’s young musicians meld their individual technical skills into a sound of enormous versatility and power. They will perform under the baton of conductor Osmo Vänskä, who has led them on triumphant tours across the East Coast and Europe.

In Prescott, they will play a program that includes Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54 with special guest soloist Yefim Bronfman at the piano. With a commanding technique, a passionate presence and a lyricism consistently admired by the press and critics alike, Yefim Bronfman stands among a handful of artists regularly sought by festivals, orchestras, conductors and recitals. He is recognized as one of today’s most acclaimed and admired pianists.

The Curtis Symphony Orchestra will conclude its concert, and the Yavapai Symphony Association’s season, with Rimsky-Korsakov’s colorful and stirring Scheherazade. The 1888 work is named after the legendary storyteller and inspired by illustrations from One Thousand and One Nights.

The Curtis Symphony Orchestra performs Tuesday evening May 16, at 7 p.m., at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, on Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus, at 1100 E. Sheldon Street. Tickets for The Curtis Symphony Orchestra are $45 to $65, and available by contacting the Yavapai Symphony Association at (928) 776.4255.
