Witness living, breathing country music history and the reigning champion of its vibrant future: Join us Friday, Oct 20, when the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center welcomes five-time Grammy winner, platinum recording artist, and AMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives.

Marty Stuart has long been revered as one of the most accomplished artists in country music. Born and raised in Philadelphia, MS, Stuart got his start as a 13-year-old mandolin player in Lester Flatt’s band; by twenty-one, he was working in the studio and on the road with Johnny Cash.

Since his solo country hits in the early 1990s, Stuart has mastered every conceivable musical style from gospel to bluegrass to hillbilly rock. Stuart is also a worldwide ambassador for Nashville, Bakersfield, and points in between: he proudly safeguards the country’s most valuable traditions and physical artifacts, while continuing to record keenly relevant music that honors country’s rich legacy and introduces it to new generations.

On his praised May 2023 release, Altitude, Stuart picks up where he left off five years ago on Way Out West, exploring a cosmic country landscape populated by dreamers and drifters, misfits and angels, honky-tonk heroes and lonesome lovers. With a desert flair, it has a sweeping, cinematic feel that “conjures up wide-open horizons and endless stretches of two-lane highway…as it balances jangle and twang in equal measure.”

When it comes to transforming country songs into tangible experience, Stuart has a secret weapon: the Fabulous Superlatives. Made up of guitarist Kenny Vaughan, drummer Harry Stinson, and new member, bassist Chris Scruggs, the Superlatives are an extension of Stuart, himself a truly visionary artist and music legend. With the talented Fabulous Superlatives along for the ride, Stuart celebrates American roots music and lights up the stage with rockabilly, honkytonk, and traditional country music on the Altitude tour.

Tickets for Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives start at $49. A limited number of "Big Chief” VIP packages are available for $269, which includes admission to a private, pre-show event with Marty and the band, among other exclusive perks. Each ticket purchased for Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives will be assessed a $1 charity fee directed to The Marty Stuart Congress of Country Music, as per the artist.
