Residents invited to explore, make friends and learn

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Yavapai College invites active minds to discover a new kind of learning community where curiosity rules, friendships abound and grades are a thing of the past. Join us for OLLI’s free Prescott Valley Open House, Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Yavapai College’s Prescott Valley Center, 3800 N. Glassford Hill Road.

The Prescott Valley Open House is an opportunity for adults, aged 50 and better, to make new friends, discover upcoming classes, and explore everything OLLI has to offer in Prescott Valley.

“OLLI is a learning community of retirees facilitating classes for each other.” Osher Lifelong Learning Center Director Tricia Berlowe explained. “Class participants bring a lifetime and a world of experience into the discussions, enriching all who participate.”

The open house precedes OLLI’s Winter Term, which commences January 26 with a slate of useful, topical and intriguing Prescott Valley courses, including:

  • The Visual Designer’s Eye
  • Organizing you Gmail
  • Getting to Know the Founding Fathers
  • Foreign Films
  • Somalia: Pirates, Terrorists & Poets
  • Everything French

Classes are all offered by volunteer facilitators who are members of OLLI. The Prescott Valley Open House allows both new students and returning members to meet facilitators, discuss the courses and the structure of OLLI and – if you like what you see – register for classes in person.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Yavapai College is a vibrant community of learners aged 50 and over who enjoy exploring new ideas, developing new skills, and building friendships through classes and shared interests. There are no tests, grades, or pressure—just the joy of learning. For more information, on OLLI, please visit their website at www.yc.edu/olli, call (928) 717-7634 or stop by for a visit.
