About the collection
The United States Government is the largest publisher in the world. It distributes materials in a variety of formats, including electronic, CD, microfiche, and paper. As part of its publishing program, the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) through the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) distributes certain classes of Government documents free of cost to designated libraries throughout the United States and its territories.These libraries are known as Federal depository libraries.
Federal depository resources are available and usable for all library patrons regardless of library affiliation, disability, age, residency, or other patron status. Any member of the public may use depository resources in all formats at a Federal depository library free of charge and without impediments. Impediments include physical barriers to access or any activities that discourage or dissuade library patrons from using the library’s depository resources.
Yavapai College was congressionally designated a Federal Depository for U.S. government documents in 1976. The Boyd Tenney Library on the Prescott Campus houses the physical collection.
