Aquatics at YC

A public pool facility for exercise, recovery, and water safety.

Located in Building 2 on the Prescott Campus, Yavapai College Swimming Pools serve students, employees, families, and community members through open swim, lap swimming, heated therapy pool access, swim school, and private lessons.

Lap Swimming

Use the lap pool for fitness, endurance, technique work, and low-impact exercise.

Therapy Pool

The heated therapy pool supports gentle movement, recovery, and recreational use.

Passes

Monthly passes, day passes, and private lesson purchases are available.

  1. Showers must be taken in our locker room before entering the pool.
  2. Obey the lifeguard at all times.
  3. No glass, food, or drinks other than water.
  4. No running or horseplay.
  5. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  6. Children under 3 must wear a swim diaper.
  7. No hanging on or swimming over the lane lines.
  8. No open wounds are allowed in the pool.
  9. Lanes must be shared; circle swimming will be used if needed.
  10. Use the locker rooms to exit the pool area.
Failure to obey the lifeguard or follow pool rules may result in expulsion from the pool. Yavapai College reserves the right to deny use of the pool to anyone at any given time.

Swim School

Swim School begins June 1, 2026.

Swim School offers small-group lessons for children ages 3–18. Private lessons are also available through participating instructors.

How do I choose an instructor?
Review the instructor biographies and availability below before purchasing lessons.

How does the instructor know I purchased lessons?
After purchase, the program director receives an email and forwards it to the instructor you selected.

How long is each lesson?
Lesson length depends on the swimmer’s age, experience, and attention span. Most lessons are 30 to 60 minutes.

Cancellation policy

To respect instructor time and manage schedules, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for swim lesson cancellations.

  • If notice is not provided at least 24 hours in advance, the cost of the lesson will be charged.
  • Emergency exceptions may be made at the discretion of the program director.

Private Lessons

Swim instructor biographies

Review current instructor information before purchasing private lessons. Availability may change.

Emma Crysler

Open for new students

Emma has been swimming for nine years and has taught swim lessons for three years. She works with students of all ages and focuses on confidence, safety, and lifelong water skills.

Availability: Monday through Saturday.

Silas

Open for new students

Silas swam competitively for eight years, with state times in butterfly events and regional qualifying times in other events. He is deep-water safety certified and Red Cross CPR certified.

Availability: Most Saturdays and some weekday afternoons.

Kylie Marlatt

Not accepting new students

Kylie is a competitive swimmer with nine years of experience and several years of group and private lesson experience. She works with experienced swimmers age 10 and older who want to improve performance.

Availability: Fridays and Saturdays after 2 PM when accepting students.

Sarah Roth

Not accepting new students

Sarah is a Yavapai College student studying aeronautical science. She has ten years of swimming experience, six years as an instructor, and one year as a lifeguard.

Cynthia Flores

Not accepting new students

Cynthia is a lifeguard and swim instructor with 32 years of experience. She has a background in child development and experience working with children and adults with special needs.

Amry Soriano

Not accepting new students

Amry is a college athlete majoring in special education and elementary education. She teaches swimmers from first-time beginners to those developing advanced skills.

Availability: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays when accepting students.

Alina Orchard

Not accepting new students

Alina has been swimming competitively since age five and has taught for four years. She has experience with infants, adults, neurodiverse students, and students with disabilities.

Availability: Listed hours include Monday, Tuesday–Friday evenings, and Saturday open swim hours when accepting students.

Kayleigh “Kay”

Not accepting new students

Kay has taught swim lessons and coached for about three years. She specializes in swimmers ages 10 and up, including teens and adults building confidence and technique.

Lexi

Not accepting new students

Lexi is a CPR and First Aid certified lifeguard with experience working with young children and school-age children. Her specialty is beginning swimmers of all ages.

Availability: Not available weekends or after 6 PM weekdays when accepting students.

Kevin

Not accepting new students

Kevin is a YC alumnus and local RN with experience in swim instruction, lifeguarding, swift water rescue, guiding, beginner lessons, technique improvement, and outdoor water safety.

Giada Virgilio

Not accepting new students

Giada is a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor with a current CPR certification. She has taught a range of ages and skill levels, from basic water safety to competitive skills.

Availability: Saturdays during open swim hours when accepting students.

Tyler

Approval required

Tyler swam competitively in high school and college and is a Prescott Swim Team coach and YC adjunct faculty member. He teaches advanced, competitive swimmers who already know the basic strokes.

Shelby Heil

Not accepting new students

Shelby is a Yavapai College psychology student with lifeguard and swim instructor experience. She teaches beginner swimmers and focuses on water comfort, essential skills, and safety.
