DUO Two-Factor Authentication for Students

Yavapai College uses DUO two-factor authentication, also called 2FA, to help protect student accounts, email, and online services.

Why DUO 2FA matters

If you are not already enrolled in DUO 2FA, take a few minutes to enroll. DUO adds a second verification step when accessing YC systems, which helps prevent unauthorized access if your password is stolen or compromised.

Protection against phishing

Phishing attacks and account compromises are common security risks. DUO 2FA helps protect your YC student account by requiring a second verification step in addition to your password.

Stronger account access

YC is taking steps to improve security for account access, email, and other online services by requiring DUO 2FA on YC student accounts.

Steps for students to enroll

You will self-enroll your device information as part of the DUO 2FA enrollment process.

Before you begin

  • Use a computer or tablet during the one-time activation process so you can access the QR code.
  • Scan the QR code with your phone during setup.
  • Use your smartphone as your primary device where possible.
  • Add a second device, such as another mobile device or landline, as a backup option.
