Prescott, Arizona — The Yavapai College Women’s Volleyball team went on the road this past weekend against Eastern Arizona College in two matches on Fri. Sep. 25 and Sep. 26. The Roughriders lost both, going 0-3 in each.
Yavapai College’s Keyara Haywood had a total of 19 kills, two blocks and two block assists, while McKenzie Wright combined for 43 assists and two service aces. Additionally, Yuliana Apodaca had 13 digs in the first match, and Catilin Celestino had 15 digs in the second.
Yavapai College Women’s Volleyball is now 7-6 and 1-4 in conference. Their next match is at home on Wed. Sep. 30 at 7 p.m. against South Mountain Community College.
Yavapai College Men’s Soccer hosted the College of Southern Nevada on Sat. Sep. 26, winning 4-1. The goals were scored by Nery Martinez (assist: Andres Arenas), Endreus Soares (assist by Juan Avella), Dale Baker (assist: Nery Martinez), and Facundo Bellindier-Parada (unassisted).
The first three goals from the Roughriders came within a two-minute span in the first half. Yavapai College goalkeeper Christian Rimbu made his first start, collecting five saves. Martinez and Bellindier-Parada each had eight shots and four shots on goal.
The Roughriders are now 6-2-1, and 1-1-1 in conference play. Next, the men go on the road to face Arizona Western College, ranked seventh nationally, on Tue. Sep. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
Yavapai College Women’s Soccer also faced the College of Southern Nevada on the same day at home, tying 1-1. The single goal was scored by Yavapai College’s Nataly Arangure off of a free kick late in the second half.
The Roughriders dominated in the second half with 34 shots total, and 22 in the second half. Seven shots came from Dottie Bethers, and six from Jillian Jones.
Yavapai College Women’s Soccer is now 3-6-2 on the season and 2-1-1 in conference play. They go up against Arizona Western College on Tue. Sep. 29 at 7 p.m.
