Prepare for a career in diagnostic imaging through Yavapai College pathways in radiologic technology, limited X-ray, diagnostic medical sonography, and post-primary imaging education.

Program Overview
Diagnostic imaging is a specialized area of healthcare that uses technology such as X-rays, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Ultrasound/Sonography to create images of the body’s internal structures.
These images help diagnose, confirm, and monitor illnesses and injuries. The images are interpreted by a physician, most commonly a radiologist, and the findings help guide patient care.
Imaging professionals work in hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, surgical centers, orthopedic and physician offices, urgent care clinics, and mobile imaging services.

The Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology prepares students for entry-level positions as radiographers through classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning.
Certificate Pathway
In Arizona, a Limited X-ray Machine Operator, also known as a Practical Technologist in Radiology, is trained to perform specific X-ray procedures within a limited scope of practice.
The certificate prepares students for entry-level positions as Certified Practical Technologists in Radiology in Arizona. Students complete clinical education and major core coursework through online, lab, and clinical learning.
Certificate Pathway
Diagnostic Medical Sonography uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures inside the body without the use of ionizing radiation.
Diagnostic medical sonographers operate imaging equipment, work directly with patients, obtain high-quality images, and collaborate with physicians to support patient care.
