Program Overview

What is diagnostic imaging?

Diagnostic imaging is a specialized area of healthcare that uses technology such as X-rays, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Ultrasound/Sonography to create images of the body’s internal structures.

These images help diagnose, confirm, and monitor illnesses and injuries. The images are interpreted by a physician, most commonly a radiologist, and the findings help guide patient care.

Imaging professionals work in hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, surgical centers, orthopedic and physician offices, urgent care clinics, and mobile imaging services.
