High school students should begin with YC Early College for dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, CTED pathways, and other high school student options.

Student journey

How YC advising works

YC students are supported across their entire student journey, beginning with enrollment advising and continuing with retention advising after registration.

Enrollment advisors

Enrollment advisors assist students from the beginning. They help students register for their first semester of classes, create an academic plan, and understand YC programs.

This support is especially useful for students who are new to YC, returning after time away, or still deciding which academic path fits their goals.

Retention advisors

Once a student is registered, they move over to their retention advisor. The retention advisor continues working with the student until graduation.

Retention advisors help students follow their academic plan, register for upcoming semesters, stay connected to support, and prepare for next steps after degree completion.

Advising resources

Resources to help you prepare, register, and plan ahead

These resources support new, returning, and continuing students as they prepare for classes, review placement or testing needs, transfer credits, and follow important academic dates.

About registration: Credit classes can be used toward a degree or certificate, for transfer to another institution, or for personal enrichment. Non-credit classes cover leisure, lifestyle, and special-interest subjects.

New Student Orientation

Orientation dates

New Student Orientation is a resource for new and returning students. Orientation is tailored to registered students, but registered, non-registered, new, returning, and continuing students are encouraged to attend.
