Freedom to decorate: Feel free to use posters, pictures, plants, chairs, and throw rugs to make the space your own.

Additional furnishings: You may bring items like bookshelves and side tables, but space is limited. Be aware that large pieces may not fit comfortably. Collegeprovided furnishings must remain in the room and cannot be stored elsewhere.

Protecting surfaces:

• Use damage-free methods like Mead 3M tabs for hanging items.
• Avoid using methods that can damage the walls or floors.

Prohibited actions: Painting your room is not allowed.

Damage responsibility: Be mindful that charges will be applied for damages beyond regular wear and tear upon move-out.

Each resident is allowed to bring 1 vehicle which may be operated on authorized college roads and driveways, as well as public roadways. Motorized & electric vehicles may not be driven off-road on any YC property.

Parking on roadways on property is not allowed. Residents should park primarily in designated parking areas assigned to their apartment or house. Failure to follow these rules may result in fines or towing.

Each apartment has a kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, stove, microwave, sink, and dishwasher. Residents should coordinate with their apartment mates to outfit the kitchen.

Gas, electricity, water, sewer, and garbage services are included in your monthly payment. Wi-fi is included for students.

Employee houses are unfurnished. Student apartments are partially furnished. Please see specific apartment unit for list of furniture

Free laundry facilities. Residents must supply their own detergent, fabric softener, etc.

The college performs a deep cleaning of the apartment when you move out at the end of the school year. During your stay, you and your apartment-mates are expected to keep the apartment clean.

• Clean is defined as free from dirt, stains, contaminants, impurities, excessive clutter, and food waste that may present a safety hazard. Keep your assigned room and living space clean and orderly. You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself in bathrooms, kitchens, and other common areas.
• Maintaining a clean apartment includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Cleaning the bathroom tub, toilet, and sink weekly
  • Mopping the floors in the bathroom and kitchen weekly
  • Cleaning the stove (including drip pans), other provided cooking appliances, and refrigerator monthly
  • Vacuuming or sweeping weekly
  • Cleaning the lint trap in the clothes dryer weekly
  • Removing your trash and recycling as needed (at least weekly) to the designated trash and recycling area
• College personnel will conduct regular health and safety checks. You may be billed individually or as part of a community for any cleaning

Apartment residents are not required to have a meal plan.

Employees will be enrolled in Payroll Deduction, paying half their rent twice a month. Students must either pay in advance for the entire 9-month agreement, or PRIOR TO MOVEIN students must enroll in a Payment Plan to make monthly payments. Late payments will incur a $25 fee. Multiple late payments may result in cancellation of the License Agreement and immediate removal from the unit.

OneCard: The OneCard is Yavapai College's identification card for students. The OneCard is used to access records, use the meal plan, set up a Flexicash account, check materials out at the library, access certain buildings, etc. The fee to replace is $25.

Room Keys: Residents receive a room key upon check-in and are responsible for keeping the key throughout occupancy. Lost room keys are a safety concern and must be reported immediately. The fee to replace is $25

Lock-out Assistance: If a resident is locked out of their room, they are instructed to contact Campus Safety (928) 239-0172. The first two assists are free, after which residents will be charge $15 per assist. Access will not be granted to any room without proper identification.

While common courtesy is expected at all times, these are the designated quiet hours: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM daily. During these hours, residents are expected to maintain low noise levels and avoid disruptive activities. Failure to comply may result in fines, mediation, or eviction for repeat offenses.

Alcohol

• Residents 21 and older are permitted to possess and consume alcohol responsibly in private residences where all present are of legal drinking age.
• It is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under 21.
• Students are prohibited from using common-source alcohol containers (e.g., kegs) or rapid consumption devices (e.g., beer bongs). Students cannot store or transport alcohol in plain view.
• Must not consume alcohol in a way that disrupts others or normal housing operations.

Illegal Drugs

• Prohibited by Arizona and federal law and college policies.
• Includes possession, use, sale, manufacture, cultivation, or provision of drugs like barbiturates, opiates, amphetamines, and hallucinogens.
• Possession or storage of items like bongs, grinders, pipes, vapor pens, and rolling papers is prohibited.
• Marijuana: Use, possession, or cultivation of marijuana, including medical and recreational marijuana, is prohibited on college property, even with a medical marijuana card.
• Unauthorized use of controlled substances, including prescription drugs, is prohibited.
• Prescription Drugs: Must be issued in the student's name, in the original, properly labeled container, and stored in the student's assigned room when not in use.

Smoking, vaping and the use of tobacco products, are prohibited in all College owned buildings. YC Campuses and Centers have designated outdoor areas for use of tobacco products.

Although not required, obtaining renter's insurance is strongly recommended for all residents. This insurance offers protection by covering the cost of repairing or replacing personal items that are damaged or lost, ensuring financial security

There are a few residences, such as personal RVs, where pets are allowed. Written approval from your Housing Manager is required. An additional deposit will be required, and the tenant will be responsible for any repairs or cleanings due to the pet. Residents must clean up after pets, keep them on leashes in outdoor common spaces, and control noise or disturbances. Failure to comply may result in fines or removal.

Except as may be required by your academic program (e.g. NARTA or Gunsmithing), firearms are NOT ALLOWED ON ANY COLLEGE PROPERTY except as follows: in a collegeprovided gun locker or secured in your car’s trunk. Firing, discharging, or brandishing of any type of firearm, simulated firearm, or any other weapon is prohibited.

Bike racks: Available outside several buildings for secure bike locking. We recommend always locking your bike when unattended.

Storage: Bikes may be kept in your room with consent from your roommate(s). Bikes may not be stored in hallways or in spaces that restrict ingress/egress.

Yavapai College has numerous ways to keep yourself entertained. Attend a college sporting event: with soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball, you can attend home matches throughout the year . Join one of the College’s Clubs or Organization—or start your own! There are various free activities happening throughout the year which you can view on our Events Calendar, and there are low cost student tickets available for most of the movies and shows in our Performing Arts Center.

Yavapai County

The historic downtown shopping district of Prescott, the Red Rocks of Sedona, the Wine Trail of the Verde Valley, combined with sunny skies and mild temperatures, make Yavapai County a favorite destination for residents of Arizona and beyond. Surrounded with natural scenic beauty ranging from the Prescott National Forest to the high desert, outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and rock climbing are hugely popular. Hundreds of miles of trails wait to be explored and picturesque locales afford stunning views year-round.

Yavapai County has a rich history, and its past is maintained in various forms by local museums including Sharlot Hall Museum, the Museum of Indigenous People, and the Camp Verde Archeology Center. Art galleries and boutiques abound throughout our communities. Local theater is alive and well, and music—from bar bands to jazz quartets and chamber orchestras—is abundantly available. Recurring annual events include the Sedona International Film Festival, the Camp Verde Pecan & Wine Festival, the World’s Oldest Rodeo, and the Acker Musical Showcase.
