Activate your account, sign in to myYC, locate important student information, and connect with help when something is not working.

Set up and access your account

Students who recently applied should complete these steps before attempting to register for classes or open other YC systems.

  1. Check your personal email

    Look for your YC acceptance message. It includes your YC username, student identification number, and account activation instructions.

  2. Activate your YC account

    Use the account activation link in your message to establish your password. Store your password securely for future use.

  3. Sign in to myYC

    Select the myYC button in the upper-right corner of a yc.edu page. Sign in with your YC account.

    When prompted by Microsoft, enter your username in the format username@yc.edu.

  4. Complete Duo authentication

    Duo provides an additional identity-verification step that protects your YC account. Follow the on-screen instructions to approve the sign-in.

  5. Review your account information

    Some returning students may be asked to confirm their contact information and current degree or certificate before entering the portal.

Reset a forgotten password

Use the online Password Reset Utility first

Visit the YC Password Reset Utility and follow the instructions.

When an online reset is unsuccessful, contact the ITS Help Desk. You may be required to verify your identity before account assistance can be provided.

Account information

Find your student ID number

Your student ID is also called your Y number. After signing in to myYC, locate the My Account Info card. Your Y number appears near the top of that card.

Navigate the student portal

The myYC Experience portal provides access to email, registration, financial aid, course information, support services, and other student tools.

  • Notifications: Select the bell to review alerts and messages. Some notifications may also appear when you first sign in.
  • Calendar and tasks: Select the calendar control to review academic dates and assigned tasks.
  • Portal menu: Select the three-line menu to browse links by category. You may also use the Link Search card to locate a specific service.
  • Important announcements: Time-sensitive college notices may appear as cards near the top of the portal.

  • Locked cards are required and cannot be removed.
  • Use category tabs to browse other available cards.
  • Select the bookmark control on a card to add it to your home page.
  • Drag movable cards to change their order.
  • Select View All Cards to browse the complete card collection.
