The Girl and the Shedding Fox

Sandra Hunter & Lisa Sanders

Paula Gregory Fine Artist

Collaborative hybrid installation of visual artworks around a narrative.

The Fox lives in a small shed where she is isolated and hated by the villagers who blame her for the drought.

Meanwhile, the Fox is losing her fur and skin. It is a long and painful process and she is driven to the brink of desperation when she is visited by the Girl who becomes her ally, and saves her when the villagers burn the shed.

The narrative is recorded on a downloadable phone app that people can listen to as they move through the installation. Writer, Sandra Hunter and fine artist, Lisa Sanders.

This project began in 2015 when Lisa sent Sandra a painting of a furry creature with ears and sad eyes. She had painted it on Japanese paper that looked like the creature was shedding. Thus, the tale of the Girl and the Shedding Fox was born!

Sandra sent a few lines of prose back to Lisa and for the next year and a half they exchanged prose and artwork as the narrative grew.
